The Heart Behind Dusty Roads

The Heart Behind Dusty Roads

Dusty Roads didn’t begin as a business idea. It began with a name.

The name carries more than just a sound we loved. It carries a story. A memory. A piece of family.

Dusty Rhodes was the name of my husband’s mother — a woman whose strength shaped him deeply and whose warmth touched my life in ways I’ll always be grateful for. Dusty was her nickname, and Rhodes was her last name. When we began dreaming about starting this shop, we knew we wanted to carry a piece of her with us into this new chapter.

It felt strong. It felt personal. It felt like home.

And that’s exactly what we hope it becomes.

Dusty Roads represents more than a shop. It represents where we’ve been, the people who shaped us, and the journey that brought us here.

This is Dusty Rhodes

A New Chapter in Georgia

We moved from California to Georgia after my husband retired — it simply felt like the right time for a new season. What we didn’t expect was how deeply this place would stir something in us. The quiet woods, the subtle rolling landscapes, the slower rhythm of life — it felt grounding in a way we hadn’t experienced before.

Inspired by broken-in boots, slow country mornings, and dusty roads, the vision began to take shape.

Dusty Roads was built on the idea that what you bring into your home should tell a story — your story. What started as a new chapter for us gave us the space to create — knowing that every piece we make becomes part of someone else’s story, and they become part of ours.

Why We Create

Creating has always been part of our lives.

For more than 50 years, my husband built movie sets — bringing stories to life through wood, structure, and detail. Building isn’t just something he does. It’s how he sees the world, so yes, I take full advantage of his creative brain.

My own path has taken a different shape. I studied landscape design and spent more than 20 years creating planting plans at a landscape architecture firm, where I learned how balance, texture, and form work together to shape a landscape. Over the past decade, I’ve also been creating art and sharing it with a growing online community. Design, detail, and storytelling have been part of my life for a long time.

At Dusty Roads, those experiences come together in the work — from original art and custom signs to laser-engraved pieces, ornaments, wedding accents, and other keepsakes. We’re not just making things to sell. We’re making things meant to be part of your story.

More Than a Shop

Dusty Roads is about honoring family, craftsmanship, and the journey that brought us from one side of the country to the other. It’s about starting fresh and sharing that journey with the community we now call home.

More than a shop, it grew from family, faith, and a vision carried into this next chapter. We don’t see it as just selling what we make. We see it as inviting you into a story that’s still being written.

Thank you for being here at the very beginning.

Welcome to Dusty Roads.
